The K2 Base Camp Trek is one of the most iconic and challenging trekking adventures in the world. Taking you deep into the heart of the Karakoram, this 21-day expedition offers breathtaking views of towering peaks, including K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak, and the Trango Towers. The journey follows the legendary Baltoro Glacier, leading to Concordia, the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods,” where some of the world’s highest peaks surround you. Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Islamabad International Airport

Altitude: 540 m
Upon your arrival at Islamabad International Airport, you will receive a warm welcome from our friendly guide(s). They will assist you with your transfer to the hotel, where you can unwind and recover from your journey.

Pickup Information:
Our guides will be easily recognizable, holding placards adorned with our company logo and your name. Please make sure to arrive at Islamabad International Airport, as most international flights arrive late at night or in the afternoon. We kindly request that you provide us with your flight details—both inbound and outbound—at least five days prior to your arrival. Our staff will greet you at the international arrivals gate unless you are connecting from another city in Pakistan. If you do not require an airport transfer, please inform us in advance.

After enjoying lunch and some rest at the hotel (ideally for those arriving in the morning between 9 AM and 12 PM), our representative will gather all guests at 6 PM for a briefing and to settle any outstanding payments at our office, followed by a delightful dinner. If your arrival is later in the day, we will arrange for payments and the briefing in Skardu.

Day 02: Flight to Skardu, Karakoram

Altitude: 2,498 m
Participants will embark on a stunning morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu Airport, weather permitting, with breathtaking views of Nanga Parbat. Upon arrival in Skardu, the remainder of the day is yours to explore at your leisure.

Day 03: Free Day in Skardu

Altitude: 2,498 m
After a hearty breakfast, you may choose to hike to Kharpocho Fort, perched atop a mountain and offering magnificent views of the Indus River and Skardu town. An optional tour to the picturesque Sadpara Lake will be available, followed by free time for shopping in the bustling Skardu Bazaar.

Throughout the day, our dedicated staff will manage any necessary government documentation, which may take up to two days. We have incorporated contingency days at the end of the trek to accommodate any potential delays.

Day 04: Drive to Askole Village

Altitude: 3,015 m
Your adventure begins with a jeep safari towards Daso, traversing the enchanting Shigar Valley. This journey follows the banks of the Braldu River, leading you to Askole—the last village on our route. Depending on road conditions, you may begin your trek before reaching Askole. The journey will take approximately 6 to 8 hours.

Day 05: Trek from Askole to Jhola via Biafo Glacier Snout

Altitude: 3,103 m
Distance: 20 km
Duration: 5-8 hours
After finalizing the necessary supplies and equipment, porters will load up for the trek to Jhola. Experience the thrill of moraine walking as you cross the glacier’s snout and descend to a scenic lunch spot by the Korofon River. The trail leads to the confluence of the Braldu and Domordo Rivers, where you will traverse a newer trail upstream, crossing a bridge before descending to the camp at Jhola.

Day 06: Trek from Jhola to Paiju along Braldu River

Altitude: 3,418 m
Distance: 19.8 km
Duration: 6-7 hours
Follow the Braldu gorge alongside the river, with captivating views of the magnificent Trango Towers and Cathedral Peak. Given the potentially dry and hot conditions, sun protection is advised. Depending on water levels, river crossing shoes may be necessary. On a clear day, the snout of Baltoro Glacier will be visible. Your day concludes with a climb away from the river to camp at Paiju, the last campsite with trees for a while.

Day 07: Acclimatization and Rest at Paiju

Altitude: 3,418 m
Spend the day at Paiju Camp for essential acclimatization and relaxation. Meanwhile, our porters will prepare fresh bread for the upcoming days on the glacier. An acclimatization walk to the base of Paiju Peak is also available for those who wish to explore.

Day 08: Trek from Paiju to Khoburtse

Altitude: 3,788 m
Distance: 14.7 km
Duration: 5-7 hours
As you trek towards the snout of Baltoro Glacier, the journey becomes more challenging, but the scenery becomes increasingly spectacular. The trail involves continuous ascents and descents over glacial moraine, so please exercise caution. You will be rewarded with stunning views of Trango Tower and Uli Biaho. The day concludes with a traverse of the glacier to Liligo, before arriving at camp at Khoburtse.

Day 09: Cross Small Glaciers and Walk to Urdukus

Altitude: 3,905 m
Distance: 6.4 km
Duration: 4-6 hours
After navigating two small glaciers, you will arrive at Urdukas, conveniently located near an army camp and 100 meters above the glacier.

Day 10: Trek to Goro II, Junction of Baltoro and Younghusband Glaciers

Altitude: 4,285 m
Distance: 11.9 km
Duration: 6-8 hours
Your trek continues through the heart of the glacier, following the medial moraine while enjoying views of the majestic Masherbrum (7,821 m). This trek involves climbing over rocky moraine and passing colossal ice seracs. Goro II, our first camp on Baltoro Glacier, marks the confluence of Baltoro and Younghusband Glaciers. Prepare for significantly cooler temperatures and breathtaking vistas of Masherbrum and Muztagh Tower.

Day 11: Trek to Concordia via Rocky Moraine

Altitude: 4,512 m
Distance: 11.7 km
Duration: 5-7 hours
As you ascend the moraine to reach Concordia, you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of K2, Broad Peak, Mitre Peak, Gasherbrum, Sia Kangri, and more.

Day 12: Trek to Broad Peak Base Camp, Gilkey Memorial, and K2 Base Camp

Altitude: K2 Base Camp (5,155 m), Gilkey (5,230 m), Broad Peak (4,844 m)
Duration: 6-7 hours
This remarkable trek allows you to walk up the Godwin-Austen glacier to the Art Gilkey Memorial, commemorating those lost on K2. Departing early, you will cross glaciers along a faint trail towards K2, which will loom ever larger. After a lunch stop at Broad Peak Base Camp, the group will continue toward K2 Base Camp, where the landscape is adorned with boulders and ice. Overnight will be spent at K2 Base Camp. Should you feel unwell on this day and prefer not to stay at K2 Base Camp, we encourage you to consult your guide, as we prioritize the dreams and well-being of all trekkers.

Day 13: Return Trek to Concordia

Duration: 4-5 hours
Participants will retrace their steps back to Concordia, where you can rest and prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day 14: Trek to Goro I/Biango

Altitude: 4,010 m
Distance: 15.9 km
Duration: 6-7 hours
You will leave camp and make your way back to Goro I, enjoying a more leisurely trek as you descend.

Day 15: Trek to Khoburtse with Views of Trango Towers

Altitude: 3,788 m
Distance: 13.8 km
Duration: 5-7 hours
As you descend towards the campsite at Urdukas, you will follow the same trail but enjoy fresh perspectives on the stunning Trango Towers.

Day 16: Return Trek to Camp Paiju

Altitude: 3,418 m
Distance: 14.7 km
Duration: 5-7 hours
Your trek will take you down the glacier’s side via Liligo, transitioning to more stable terrain. Upon your arrival at Paiju Camp, you will be greeted by the refreshing sight of trees.

Day 17: Trek to Jhola Campsite

Altitude: 3,418 m
Distance: 19.8 km
Duration: 5-7 hours
You will follow the same route back through Braldu Gorge, with potential river crossings, concluding your day at Jhola.

Day 18: Trek to Askole and Drive to Skardu Town

Altitude: 2,498 m
Distance: 20 km trek + 127 km drive
Duration: 5-7 hours trek + 6 hours drive
You will trek back to Askole village and then transfer to Skardu by jeep after lunch, providing a well-deserved rest for your feet.

Day 19: Flight to Islamabad

On this day, you will fly from Skardu Airport to Islamabad Airport, providing an opportunity to relax at the hotel upon your arrival. Please note that domestic flights may be subject to cancellation due to weather conditions. In the event of a cancellation, participants will be transported to Naran/Besham for an overnight

Day 20: Contingency Day for Flight Cancellation

This day has been thoughtfully reserved for any potential delays should the domestic flight not operate as scheduled. If necessary, guests will depart early from Chilas to Islamabad, which may take up to ten hours. However, if participants successfully reach Islamabad via the domestic flight, this day will be free for delightful sightseeing and exploration of the vibrant city.

Day 21: Departure to Home Country

On your final day, our attentive staff will assist all guests with their transfers to the airport in accordance with your respective departure times. Please remember that the checkout time for all partner hotels is set at 12 PM. We wish you safe travels and fond memories as you return home!
